When bands are brand new, the surface has a slightly waxy feel to it from the manufacturing process. This can make the band slightly slippery when it is first being used.

If you prefer to have full grip right away, apply a light dusting of telcon powder (baby powder) or weightlifting chalk to the band before first use.
